Weekly CARC Update: 14/11/23 – 26/11/23

News

Welcome to your weekly CARC update, detailing what our club members have been up to this week.

A busy week for Crofties began on Tuesday with short interval training at Shobdon Church, followed by hill intervals on Thursday at Wapley Hill Woods. A big thank you to Kelly and Eric for leading these sessions.

Tuesday was also the evening that we would decide which Croft runner would take the free club place at next year’s London Marathon. Congratulations to Bella Evans, who’s name was the one pulled from the Croft beanie. I’m sure you will all join us in wishing Bella the best of luck!

Saturday was a big day for Crofties as they took part in the Elan Valley 10 Mile Road Race – the penultimate race in the inter-club championship. There was a brilliant turn out and some mega results for our club, including another win, despite a fall, for our own Sam Juson, with Gareth and Eric following him in in 3rd and 4th respectively. Well done to all of our runners who took part. We’d also like to thank all of our Croft supporters that were out and about on the course, willing our runners on with constant motivation. Only one race remains, who will take home the age category prizes?

For those who didn’t come to Rhayader, a trip to Parkrun was most likely on the cards. At Ludlow Parkrun, Joe L finished in 5th position with Toby also finishing in the top ten! Naomi, recording a new PB in the process, was 1st Croft female and 2nd female overall. We also had three runners taking part in Hereford Parkrun, as well as a couple over in Hay-on-Wye.

Our regular fell runners were busy out on the trails this weekend. On Saturday was The Blorenge Fell Race. 3 Crofties took part in this one – Tim J, Flora and Gary. Less than 24 hours later was the Little Stretton to Stiperstones Time Trail in the Shropshire Hills. Results have not yet been released, at the time of writing, so stayed tuned to our social media pages for updates on this particular race!

So, that’s another week over with.  We look forward to what the next week will bring. Don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
