Weekly CARC Update: 27/11/23 – 03/12/23

News

Welcome to your weekly CARC update, detailing what our club members have been up to this week.

First up on the agenda this week is another fell race for The Gunners – Flora and Gary. Ok, this race just missed last weekend’s post as it was raced on the 26th November, but still, it’s great to celebrate our runners achievements! The Rast y Mast race is a 6.3 fell race in which Flora completed in 70:58 and Gary – 75.05. Amazing running from the pair of them!

As usual, the Croft week started with our regular Tuesday training session and, although there was some rain in the air, there was a good turn out for Clare’s long interval session; focusing on efforts and recovery. On Thursday it was Tim’s turn over at Wigmore School, helping our runners test and improve their form and postures while sprinting.

Saturday was another Ludlow Parkrun takeover for our running club. We were also collecting food, sweets and treats for Leominster Food Bank. Clare was this week’s race director, with a number of other Croft runners marshaling, pacing and timing, among other roles. Despite some early competition from a runner from Malvern Joggers, Eric pushed through, taking another Parkrun win. CARC Juniors, Oliver and Owen, finished in an awesome 5th and 14th, both recording new PBs along the way. Louise P also had a new PB. Well done to all of our other runners who took part, as well as all of our volunteers.

Elsewhere, Sam J was also out in front, taking the finish line 1st at Hereford Parkrun.

After a sprinkling of snow overnight, Crofties woke up to a wet and cold Sunday morning, with the third XC race of the Winter League on their doorsteps. This weekend it was the turn of Wye Valley Runners to host a round, which they did over in Bearwood, near Pembridge. Despite the weather, which had turned from snow to rain, we still had a good group of Sky Blues out there representing Croft Ambrey Running Club. Less than twenty seconds separated the top three finishers with our own Sam J coming in third. There were also top ten finishes for Eric and Gareth. In the Junior races, Oliver came 3rd in the U17 race.

Somewhere a little bit warmer, Hannah was on the east coast of Spain, running at the Valencia Marathon. An amazing effort by Hannah saw her finish in 3:00:54, the 342 female out of over 6000.

So, that’s another week over with.  We look forward to what the next week will bring. Don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
