Race report by Tom Davies
For many years this race has been a favourite for many Croft runners but as the choice of races closer to home has increased, club numbers have dwindled.
The race covers a nice mix of road, hill and cross country running with the odd bit of bog thrown in and distances from 3 to 14 miles to chose from it well suits the talents, strengths and personalities of Crofters!
This year 5 members made the trip to Tywyn, the weather was good although the overnight night rain had made it slippery in places and the customary wind coming in from the coast made the return run hard.
The only Club member to beat the train was Mark Thomas having a strong run in a high quality field. Mark finished the 14 mile race in 19th place overall, 3rd in age category in a time of 1:41:19.
Seeming to enjoy his attempt at the longer race Steve Partridge finished 134th, 5th in category in 2.03.44 and Dave Moss, for whom this has been an annual trip for many years, was 279th in 2.29.06. The race was won by David Barrett in 1.25.37, First Lady was Clare Patterson in 1.49.29, 410 runners competed the course. If you fancy beating the train next year it finished in 1.48.10!
Taking the easier option of the 10km race were just 2 Croft runners, AlisonD finishing 202nd in a time of 1.14.20, TomD 270th in 1.26.28 , there were 297 finishers, the winner,Will Bailey, finishing in 45.25
