Leominster 10k

Race Reports

Report by Bronwyn

It’s a bit crazy that the August Bank Holiday is already upon us and a few Crofties decided to spend theirs by taking part in the Leominster Runner’s 10k race in Leominster.

It was a lovely, crisp morning with a little chill in the air making it, for me personally, the ideal running weather. A total of 10 club members turned up at Bridge St Sports Centre ready for a 9am start.

A relatively flat course, the 10k race started at the Sports Centre before taking the runners towards Eyton through the country lanes. Towards the middle part of the run there was an elevation gain of approx 226ft. Nothing that would have bothered us Crofties, much. However, the slight incline came as a surprise to many runners as they seemed to be under the impression the course was totally flat. After the hill or slope, depending on how you look at it, it was then back to the Sports Centre following the same, flat lane that got us to Eyton in the first place.

Our own CARC member Eric was first to cross the line with a chip time of 35.19. Hereford Couriers Luke Mason kept right on Eric’s heels to take home second. Builth’s Donna Morris came home third overall and first lady. First Croft lady was Jo Tilby. Howard Verran also topped his age category. All of Croft results are as follows:

1st. Eric Apperley – 35.19 – SM (1st)

11th. Steve Partridge – 41.30 – V40 Male (2nd)

27th. Roland Preece – 45.48 – V55 Male (5th)

28th. Jo Tilby – 45.49 – V40 Female (4th)

31st. Dan Brazier – 46.24 – SM (6th)

41st. Howard Verran – 49.03 – V45 Male (1st)

46th. Bronwyn Preece – 50.38 – SF (6th)

57th. Sue Purvin – 57.09 – V60 Female (4th)

60th. Clare Preece – 58.03 – V50 Female (3rd)

67th. Alison Apperley – 1:20.43 – V55 Female (6th)

Great running everyone!”
