Bearwood Series – Croft Results after race 1

A great Croft turnout for the Wye Valley Runners Bearwood 10k.

This is a 3 race series and has been included in the Croft Club Championship series – fastest time of the three races will count in the series.

The route was the same as in the winter league – 2 laps starting by the Farmyard of Bearwood Farm and rollowing a route around field margins and a couple of stretches through some woods.

The most memorable part for a high percentage of the runners was a rather angry wasps nest in the first of the wooded section, with a nasty sting – who knows though, the added incentive of wanting to get to the finish to apply some afterbite may have helped some very impressive times?

Apart from the wasps it was a lovely route – relatively flat complared to some races but still with a bit of an uphill pull in a couple of places to help stretch the runners and ideal off road conditions.

Sam and Gareth finished in 1,2 and Jo Tilby was first lady.

22 Croft runners in total – a very good turnout for Croft.

It’s not too late to enter for the next 2 races if you missed the first and it will be interesting to see if the change in times for the next race.
