Weekly CARC Update: 15/01/2024-21/01/2024

News

Well, folks. It’s that time of the week yet again!

On Monday, we welcomed back our junior runners for their next block of 10-week training – and, just in time for the final race in the Winter Cross Country League which takes place in February! We can’t wait to see what the future generation of Croft get up to in the coming weeks!

Our Tuesday and Thursday training sessions were attended by many; with a large majority of club members now well into their marathon training plans. Eric was back leading on Tuesday, with a short interval session at Shobdon Church. Thursday, with Huw in charge, was focused on sprints at Brampton Bryan.

Croft member – Clare, was race director once again at Ludlow Parkrun on Saturday, and many Crofties, whether running or volunteering, came out to support her. There was a Croft win, courtesy of Sam, this weekend, who managed to achieve a new PB in the process. Over in Hereford Naomi, Jo M, Crispin and Nikki took part. There was a new PB for Naomi. Finally, Eric was back at Hay with the hopes of improving on last week’s time that saw him take the course record. We can confirm that after taking the win, he did in fact break the course record, once again!

It was a quiet Sunday with many of our runners either at the National Running Show in Birmingham or out doing their own thing. A small “gaggle” of Crofties did, however, group together for a run around Bircher Common this morning to celebrate Gary’s birthday. And yes, cake was involved. Happy Birthday, Gary!

Here’s some pictures from the running show:

And, that’s it for this week. Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
