News

Hello to Sunday and hello to the Weekly CARC Update! There has been plenty of action in the world of Croft Ambrey Running Club this week. Ready to check it out??

Our Juniors were back on track on Monday with their usual session at Wigmore school. For our Seniors, it would be a social run over in Brampton Bryan on Tuesday and a long interval session at Croft on Thursday.

Wednesday was the return of the Hereford and Border’s Summer XC League, with Race 1 taking place at Treworgan Farm near to Ross-on-Wye. The sun was shining and it was a good start for our runners with a win for Sam J and top three finish for Mark. Several of our Sky Blue also finished in the top three in their age categories. This Saturday we were expecting Parkruns to be quieter on the Croft side, with many racing elsewhere. All of which you can read about next! But before that, 7 Crofties ran at Ludlow Parkrun, with Toby S coming home in 6th position and 1st Croft and Paul Lewis getting a PB of 1 minute 57s to finish in 28.30. Elsewhere, Angus ran at Horsham Parkrun, finishing in 32:32.

Besides Parkrun, Saturday was also a big day for the Sky Blues as they would either be running at Offa’s Dyke 15 or Man v Horse. Both races would yield so great results for our little club!

Starting with Offa’s Dyke 15; the race which started it all over 40 years ago for CARC, and once again yielding some great results for the Sky Blues! Sam J would finish 1st, Sam M 2nd, Eric 3rd and Gareth in 4th. They would also win the Male Team prize!

Croft Junior; Saffi, has had another very busy week racing and collecting more “bling!” She represented her school in the District Minors on Tuesday in the 800m and stormed home 1st and is straight through to the Minors Championships in Worcester at the end of the month. On Tuesday evening she received her Couriers 5K award. On Wednesday she took on Cirencester AC’s busy 3K Junior Summer Sizzler road race for 11-18yr old’s finishing in 12:01 and was 1st girl back/11th overall. On Saturday it was the Hereford and Worcester Schools County Championships in Stourport and she ran in the junior girls 800m race against years 8 and 9 and placed 2nd with a new PB of 2:32, picking up her 15th UK ranking. On Sunday she took part in Hereford Junior Parkrun where she finished 3rd while recording a new PB of 07:45.

Last weekend Ireland competed in the Midnight Marathon in Brecon. Starting at 6pm Ireland completed the 26.2 miles with 4,300 feet of climb to finish before midnight. She said ‘I finished in 6 hours 1 mineute, 54th overall and 9th in my age category, I think. It was a great race, I really enjoyed it’

Before we finish up for this week, we want to wish Croftie; Greg, the best of luck in this year’s Montane Summer Spine Race which kicked off on Sunday. Stay tuned to see how he gets on!

Well done all for another fantastic week. The upcoming training schedule will be live on our Facebook on Monday morning. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
