Hello all, and welcome to your Weekly CARC Update – bringing you all the weekly Croft shenanigans straight to your inboxes and social media feeds!
We can confirm that this week has been full steam ahead, with plenty of things for us to report on. So, get your brews and your biscuits and sit down to enjoy and emmerse yourselves in the world of Croft Ambrey Running Club.
It was a job well done to our Juniors who, as always, started the week with a bang at their Monday Wigmore training session. This was followed by our Seniors taking to Shobdon Orchards on Tuesday with a long interval and XC recce session hosted by Sam. On Thursday, Kelly – stepping in for Tim, took our runners over to Croft for a Sprint session. Good job, Crofties.

Onto Wednesday, and it was our turn to host a race in this year’s Hereford and Borders Summer XC League. This year, we brought an all-new course to the table with the start/finish taking place at Shobdon Airfield. The route itself followed tracks and trails around the local Shobdon Orchards, with plenty of scrummy food and sweet treats available at the end courtesy of Meg’s Cafe at Shobdon Airfield.
Before we bring to you the XC rundown, join us in thanking each and everyone of our volunteers, whom without, the event would not have been able to go ahead. Thank you!
As for our runners, over 40 Sky Blues took to the Shobdon Trails in an attempt to broaden our lead in the Team Standings. On the back of an Ironman in France, it was a 2nd and 3rd place finish for Sam J and Mark L. Sam M and Andy D rounded out the Top 5. Our First Lady was Nina (4th female overall), with Mia and Jo T also finishing in the Top 10 Ladies. We also managed to field 7 teams on the night, with Team 1 taking 1st Overall!
There were so many Crofties taking part, so this is not the place to list all the individual results. If you’d like to check them out, you can do so here.
In the current overall standings, Sam J is leading, with Mark L and Andy sitting in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Nina is sitting nicely in 3rd for the ladies. 5 of our teams are currently in the overall team standings, with Team 1 leading the pack with a healthy 20 minute lead.

Parkrun Saturday and boy, was it a busy one, with over 23 members running at 7 different events.
First up, we’ll head down under and catch up with Oliver T who was running at Cronulla Parkrun in his new home of Cronulla, New South Wales! Finishing in 5th position overall, Oliver recorded a new PB with a time of 22:31.
Back home on familiar turf at Ludlow, it was Eric who took home the win, just one second ahead of Chris Corfield, an up and coming local runner. Not one of our runners, but worthy of a shoutout as he continues to improve and consistently take the competition to Eric! Another young runner, this time one of our own, is Casper who once again finished with a strong Top 10 position and another PB. His time was 22:17. Volunteer credits this week went to Rachel T – her first as Run Director! Well done Rach. Also to Birthday Boy Paul L, Rob M, Clare, Seb M, Adrian, Karen and Jamie. Elsewhere, we had runners taking part in Parkruns at Hereford, Queenswood, Aberystwyth, Princes and Rushmere.
So, that’s the club events for this week. Now for the races our members have been running in this weekend and by the looks of things, it’s been all about Long Distance running and walking! Here is what they have been up to:

That’s all we have for this week. If you have been doing something that you would like included in the weekly roundup please let Bronwyn, Huw, Sam H or Tori know before 6pm on a Sunday.
We are always on the lookout for race reports to go on the website too. They do not need to be huge, or even go into too much detail, but let us know where you went and how it went for you together with a couple of photos and make our website current and up to date.
