The final race in the 2009 Handicap Series was completed just before darkness descended on the shortening days. Another excellent turnout for the end of season event with 5 runners able to celebrate by recording P.B.s.

Kim again ran a solo race at the head of the field to cross the line with a clear lead over Steve, who sliced a big chunk from his best time, with the rapidly improving Martin in third place.

Gavin has just joined us this year and deserves special mention for improving his time with each successive run and he already features in the all-time Top 20 performances over the Croft Woods course.

A record 36 different club runners ran at least one race in this summer’s series of handicap races with 9 of them competing in 5 or more races to count towards the final tally. Nicky was crowned 2009 Champion as she won the competition by a sizable margin as she progressed with each run as she recovered from her lengthy injury lay-off in the spring. New boy Gavin finished second with Tom, refusing to bow to advancing years and niggling injuries, in third.
