Four Croft runners tackled this most demanding of fell races – 13.6km long, with nearly 800m of climb, over the Hatterall ridge. The race was won by Mark Hopkinson in 62.27, with the winner of last week’s Sugar Loaf race not managing better than 6th. Sue D came first in the Croft contingent, showing continued improvement and confidence over the fells. She was 3rd FV55, in a high class field, in 95.56, with Mark P also getting stronger every race 4 places further back in 97.02. The remarkable Flora was 103rd ( 108.42), four places and nearly 4 minutes ahead of Gary. Tom wisely merely spectated, and I (even more wisely?) stayed at home.
