Offa’s MT 10km Brockweir

Race Reports
With many Crofters competing in everything from park runs to fell races and ultra distances at the weekend, Gary G and Tom took the easier option and were joined by a rather weary Flora to run this picturesque 10km. The route took runners along a mixture of undulating  roads and footpaths through the beautiful countryside between the Forest of Dean and the River Wye turning at Bigsweir bridge before returning on Offa’s Dyke path alongside the River Wye. Gary and Tom suffered on this fast flat section along riverside meadows, both being overtaken by many younger runners. Flora excelled by even taking part as she had run an off road marathon the day before.
Gary finished 49th in 1.09.16, 2nd mv70 ( beaten by a runner celebrating his 70th birthday on the day of the race!) Flora 68th in 1.15.40, 2nd fv55. Tom 89th in 1.26.47 in a group of tail runners who had to stop and help round up some escaped horses that had been panicked by the runners!
The race was won by Sam Jones of Parc Bryn Bach RC in 47.00, first lady was Lou Summers a fv 50 of Torfaen Runners in 56.39.
