Did someone say Sunday? Welcome to this week’s Weekly CARC Update!
As always, our Juniors kicked off the week with their session at Wigmore School. We also posted a little update on our Junior runners to our Facebook page:
“Our Junior group continues to go from strength to strength, with over 20 youngsters signed up. It’s a lovely sight to see many of them consistently coming to training week after week and, not only putting in the hard work, but enjoying themselves all the same! Some of them even recently took part in the Hereford and Borders Winter XC League, placing in their respective age categories!
We have also recently seen a couple of our Juniors go on to represent either Hereford or Shropshire at a national level, with one being selected to represent the West Midlands at an upcoming national event. Others have had a go at fell racing and others chose to just enjoy their Monday nights with CARC. Phew! Well done to them all! Keep it up!”
Our Seniors also looked good this week as they wrapped up Winter training! That’s right, next week it’s back to lighter evenings and we cannot wait! Huw took Tuesday’s session with Hills at Shobdon Wood, whereas on Thursday it was Kelly’s turn with Short Intervals at Wigmore School.

At Ludlow Parkrun this week, Clare took on the role of Race Director while other Sky Blues either ran, volunteered, or both. We also welcomed our friends from Builth and District Running Club who were using this weekend’s Ludlow Parkrun as one of their inter-club championship races. We also welcomed several of our Junior runners who also took on the challenge of the High Vinnalls Parkrun loop. Eric finished in 1st place in a time of 17:19. Simon and Steve joined him in the top 10 in 6th and 8th respectively. Liza was our first female. There were several PBs on the cards this weekend. Well done to Senior runners; Lou P – 29:51, Sian – 32:38 and Holly – 34:50, and Junior runners; George – 30:35, Evie – 30:35, Jess – 31:43 and Isla – 41:49. Volunteering this week was Kelly, Maisie, Anna, Gemma, Tom, Tori, Sue, Reachel and Clare. Over at Hereford Parkrun, Sam J took the win in 16:15, while Angus took part in Telford Parkrun finishing in 26:28.

It’s been another busy weekend for Saffi who on Saturday ran the Midland Counties 5K Road Championship Race at Sutton Park. It’s a tough undulating course but she recorded a big PB of 19:45, running quicker than the majority of older girls in the race. On Sunday it was the Pendock Spring Chicken 5k race. Described as a “multi terrain run on gently undulating roads and farm tracks (oh and one hill!) in south Worcestershire Countryside,” Saf would finish 1st female, 1st U18 female and 5th overall our of 83 entrants. We’d also like you to join us in wishing Saffi a big well done for being announced as one of 6 girls to be running in the West Midlands team at the Mini London Marathon British Athletics Road Race on 26th April!

Away from the racing, many Crofties took advantage of the lovely Sunday sun, getting out for runs, walks and plenty of outdoor activity! Check out some of their pictures!

Well done all for another fantastic week. The upcoming training schedule will be live on our Facebook on Monday morning. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
