Here we go again! Another week in the world of Croft Ambrey Running Club comes to an end. Shall we take a look at what everyone has been up to?
Well done to our Juniors for starting the week with their training session at Wigmore High School. This was followed by our seniors taking part in a short interval session with Tim J on the car park at Croft Castle on Tuesday, and sprints with Huw at Shobdon Church on Thursday. We can confirm that we are now 100% into headtorch season, so don’t forget yours in the upcoming sessions!

On Wednesday, we were invited to take part in a track session with our friends at Wye Valley Runners. Unfortunately, with plenty of rain around, it did stop some of our runners from heading over to the athletics track in Hereford to take part. Regardless, we did have a some runners joining in and flying the flag for CARC. We hope once it is dryer out more of us can take part in future sessions!
Parkrun Saturday came around as quickly as it disappeared last weekend and, as per the norm, many of our runners were out enjoying different Parkrun routes in the local area and beyond. At Ludlow, two Crofties finished in the top 5; Eric in 2nd and Toby (alongside Fin the dog) in 4th. Naomi was out first female runner to cross the line. Volunteers this week included Liza, Oli C-S, Tom D, Steph K, Neil and Guy. Over in Hereford, Croft Junior Saffi took part finishing in 23:33. Amy P also ran, finishing in 28:36. One of our newer members; Lucy L, ran at Riverside Walk in Hay. Her time was 34:22. This weekend it was Steve’s turn to do a little bit of Parkrun tourism, running at Barry Island Parkrun. He finished in 13th position with a time of 20:33. Finally, Oliver T ran at the Chippenham Playing Fields Parkrun in Monmouth. He finished in 22:43, achieving a new PB!

It was smiles all around at this month’s race in the inter-club championship, as several of our runners headed up north to take part in the Shrewsbury Half and Metric Half Marathons. In the Half Marathon, 3 Crofties – Sam, Eric & Gareth, appeared in the top ten, with Sam taking the overall win in an amazing 01:11:45! Jo M and Liza would also win their age categories. In the Metric Half, Simon took home the prize in his age category! Full CARC results:

Elsewhere, although not a race, it’s worth giving our small group of Long Mynd Hike recciers, (is that a word?), a shoutout, as they spent Sunday morning doing some last minute training before their big day next weekend! While out over the Shropshire Hills, they were also lucky enough to bump into endurance runner; Allie Bailey, and her loveable pooch; Pickle! Thank you Crofties for sharing your snaps!

Brilliant running this week, Crofties! Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every MONDAY MORNING. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
