Weekly CARC Update: 12/02/2024-18/02/2024

News

Welcome Crofties and friends for your dose of weekly Croft news. Shall we get started?

Our Junior runners kick started the week, as per usual, with their training session at Wigmore School. This was followed by training – Short Intervals and Sprints, for our seniors on Tuesday and Thursday.

Parkrun Saturday, as it’s come to be known, saw Croft runners taking part in Ludlow, Hereford and Llanerchaeron Parkruns. There was a 1-2 finish for Croft at Ludlow this weekend, with Eric and Toby taking the top spots. Joe L joined them in the top four. Over in Hereford, Sam J, who finished second, was flying the flag for CARC. Louise R, alongside her daughter Grace, played tourist at Llanerchaeron Parkrun in Wales. A great turn out, despite the number of our runners racing on Sunday!

Sunday was all about racing for many Croft runners.

Staying local to home, we had a good turnout at the Hereford 10 Mile Road Race; hosted by our friends at Ready Set Go Timing. There were plenty of PBs to go around, as well as awards. Sam J crossed the line in second place, with Gareth joining him in the top five. Gareth also went home with the Senior Male Award. Ian was another age category winner, with Sue P finishing 2nd in hers. The Croft Mens Team – made up of Sam, Gareth and Joe, managed to claim second in the team results, with the Croft Ladies – Mia, Steph M and Bronwyn, in 4th. A race report (by myself) is ready to read here!

Also on Sunday, a quartet of Crofties made the trip up to Wrexham to take part in the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon. Eric, who finished in 01:17:42, found himself improving on his past course PB by over a minute. There was also a Half Marathon PB for Paul who finished in just under 01:40:00. Well done to both Eric and Paul, as well as Alison and Michelle who also took part.

This weekend Jo M was in Spain, running the Seville Marathon. We might be a tad jealous. She said on Facebook: “Seville marathon didn’t disappoint. Loved every moment despite the early start. What a gorgeous city. I will return.” Jo finished in an incredible 03:55:38. Amazing!

Our fell runners were also busy on this beautiful Sunday, taking part in the Pen Tir Drop Fell Race. At the time of writing, results are currently unavailable.

And, that’s it for this week. Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
