Weekly CARC Update: 11/03/2024-17/03/2024

News

There were lots of racing going on at Croft Ambrey Running Club this week. From our juniors smashing a school cross-country race, to a massive Sky Blue medal haul at the first race of this year’s inter-club championship. Let’s find out more!

A quick look back at this week’s training sessions saw our Juniors out and about on Monday, followed by the Seniors on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday was all about hill reps at Croft Castle, while Thursday’s was focused more on Short Intervals (and cake. Happy Big Birthday, Howard!)

Parkrun Saturday and plenty of Sky Blues were out in force.

Over in Ludlow, Jacqueline ran her debut Ludlow parkrun in 31.24. Eric finished first across the line in 19.24 with Naomi first Croft lady in 25.20. Juniors Ollie Marsh (26.02) and Jamie Symonds (26.55) were next Crofties home with Mark, Joe, Henry P, Ingrid, both Tims and Frank all taking part.

Improving all the time at Parkrun- Toby Spicer got a PB at Hereford on Saturday in 21.55. Now back home in the UK, the Australian sun and fun looks like it has benefited Sam J, as he was back to Hereford parkrun this weekend after his holiday with another PB in 16.17 and first across the line. Nikki also ran at Hereford in 31.47.

Well done to Theresa for a new PB at Storey Fields Parkrun in Cambridge. Theresa managed a 28:41, as she ran with son, Scott! Chairman Huw has had a busy running weekend in Devon this weekend! Coming in at 29.12 while aiming for a naked 30 minutes, well done Huw!

Join us in giving a massive well done to Croft Junior, Ted Tomlinson, for finishing in an amazing 1st place at an Inter-School Cross Country championship this week. Keep working hard, Ted!

It was a busy race day kind of Sunday with plenty of Crofties running all over the country.

Kicking things off was the Magnificent Eastnor 7 at Eastnor Castle. This race was this year’s first race in the inter-club championship, and there was plenty of “bling” for Croft runners to take away:
1st – Croft Men’s Team – Jasper Robinson, Simon Norwood, Steve Partridge and Neil Powell
1st – Croft Women’s Team – Jo Tilby, Liza Austin and Bronwyn Preece
Simon Norwood – 1st V50 Male
Steve Partridge – 2nd V40 Male
Liza Austin – 1st V60 Female
Ashley Robinson – 2nd V70 Male
Tom Davies – 3rd V70 Male
Well done, Crofties. It wasn’t an easy race in all the deep mud and floods!

Elsewhere, Eric ran the Great Welsh Marathon finishing in 10th place in 2.56.30.

Our fell runners were also out this weekend taking part in the Tor y Foel Fell Race near Talybont. Unfortunately, results are not yet available. Despite this, well done all!

Finally, after Saturday’s Seaton Parkrun, Huw took part in the 20mile/3200ft Grizzly race. He finished in 5.31.22. Well done Huw – great preparation for the Mammathon.

And, that’s it for this week. Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
