Weekly CARC Update: 04/03/2024-10/03/2024

Welcome to the first full week of March. Shall we have a look at what shenanigans Croft runners have been up to this week?

Our usual training sessions took place on Monday, with our Junior training, and Tuesday and Thursday for our seniors. Senior training this week included hills at Croft and long intervals at Shobdon, coached by Sam H and Huw, respectively.

Our very own Sam J is still exploring Australia and took part in yet another Australian Parkrun. This weekend it was the Airlie Beach Parkrun in Queensland, where he finished in 1st place with a time of 16:31.

At Ludlow Parkrun, plenty of Crofties came out to play. The top two Croft finishers – Oscar (4th) and Oliver M (10th), all achieved new course PBs. We also want to say a huge well done to Archie, son of Croftie – Oliver, for finishing his first ever Parkrun!

Elsewhere, Eric and Gareth took part in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Nottingham. Both runners represented East Wales. Eric said on Facebook:

“We were close to the back but we had great fun always an honor to represent your county.”

Mia was over in Barcelona on Sunday taking part in the Barcelona Marathon. An amazing run in the Spanish sun saw her improve on her marathon PB by an incredible 2 minutes. Well done!

Several Crofties took part in social runs this weekend.

Joe, Steve, Ryan and Sarah all went on a 17 mile recce of part of the Mammathon course. Elsewhere, Jo M, Greg and Emma (and a friend) gave the full Mammathon route a go, bumping into the first group on their travels.

Kelly and Ali B were also out on the trails, taking in the scenery from Talgarth up to Lord Hereford’s Knob, where the wind was really blowing!

And, that’s it for this week. Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
