Hello Crofties and friends, welcome to another Weekly CARC Update. Many of our runners have been out and about this week. Whether it’s been training, racing or socialising, running trainers have been securely fastened and plenty of running has been done. Shall we have a recap?
As usual, the week was kicked off by our Junior runners as they took to Wigmore playing field for their training session. Our Seniors had their turns on both Tuesday and Thursday, where Sprints and Hills were the focus for this week. Wednesday also brought us an extra session, with a small group of our runners taking up an invite to join Hereford Couriers Running Club at their training evening on the newly refurbished athletics track at Hereford Leisure Centre. We’d like to thank them for letting us join. We look forward to more of our runners taking to the track!

Parkrun Saturday may have been wet and miserable, but this didn’t stop some of our runners from turning out to give a couple of different Parkruns a go.
In Ludlow, it was a 1-2 finish for us, with Eric and Scott J finishing within a second of each other in 18:37 and 18:38, respectively. This win was a perfect way for Eric to celebrate his 100th Parkrun. Well done! Alison D was our first female runner. Tom D, Steph K, Frank, Rob M, Jamie and Neil gave up their Saturday mornings to volunteer. Elsewhere, Sam J made his debut at Pontypridd Parkrun, taking the win in 16:47.
Clare and Thea were also “enjoying” the soggy weather on Saturday morning as they took part in the 30 mile Pigum race in and around Abergavenny. “Me and Thea Preece took part in the Pegasus PIGUM yesterday. 30 mile ultramarathon over the Black Mountains. The start in Abergavenny was very wet with driving rain. Three steep climbs up the Blorenge, Mynydd Llanwenarth and finally, when the sun decided to show its face, the long climb up The Sugar Loaf. A total assent of 5167 feet. Fantastically organised event with well stocked checkpoints and friendly faces.” They finished in just over 9 hours.

There was a good Croft turnout for the July Club Championship Race, The Cleobury 10k, on Sunday morning. There were also some stand-out performances with Hannah coming home as 1st lady, Jo Marriott taking the FV55 prize and Simon winning the MV40 prize (despite being at the very top of the age group). Also special mention to Rob M who went home with his first running medal! Full CARC results:

Elsewhere, Sam J and Eric headed down to South Wales to take part in the Porthcawl 10k race. Both ran really well, with Sam even recording a new 10k PB! Sam finished in 10th with a time of 31:52 and Eric in 15th with a time of 33:22.

Great job this week, Crofties! We look forward to seeing what the next week brings us!
