Welcome to April!

After a week off, following the somber news of our Club President Bryan Markham’s passing, we are back to keep you all updated on what we’ve been up to. In the meantime, Huw, our Club Chairman, has written a heartfelt tribute for Bryan which you can read here. Feel free to leave any messages in the comment section.

Easter Monday meant that there was no Junior training this week, however, it was a more normal week for our seniors. Training on Tuesday took place at Shobdon Wood, where our runners got to enjoy the first training session of the British Summer Time! Thursday was our away day run, exploring Hopton Woods near Hopton Castle.

On Saturday, despite many of our runners taking part in The Shropshire Way Walking Festival, we still had a good turn out at Ludlow Parkrun, with Eric taking home first place. Lisa was our first female. Over in Hereford, Sam J was leading the way, also finishing in first position.

As mentioned above, there was a big Sky Blue turn out for The Shropshire Way Walking Festival, with Crofties taking part in the 10k, Half-Marathon, Marathon and 80k. They battled through wind, drizzly rain and lots and lots of mud to finish their respective races. It was hard going but every single one of them can be proud of their achievements! And, what would a race be without marshals? We had a large group of Croft runners out marshaling at the Wart Hill checkpoint. Thank you, Crofties!

A quiet Sunday, bar some social runs, means that’s it for this week. Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
