Three Croft runners completed the two races on 7 and 8 February that comprise the ‘Shropshire Weekend’. Both races were made more interesting and more difficult by the lying snow, Gary G and Tom running into drifts of more than 2ft on ‘Guy’s’ route up Clee Hill. The quickest way of descending on the Sunday race was to sit down and hope that you avoided rocks and gorse bushes!
Richard had good runs in both races, coming an excellent 6th overall on the combined scores, Gary also excelled in the snow, coming in 1st over 60 and 19th overall for the 2 races.
Patrick took part in just the Clee Hill race and came an excellent 15th, despite descending carefully due to his old ankle injury.
Clee Hill results: 10th Richard (25.19), 15th Patrick (26.27), 35th (1st over 60) Gary (29.51), 43rd Tom (3rd over 60) (33.52). Race was won by Tim Werrett in 21.12 and 50 runners completed the course. Long Mynd Valleys: 53rd Richard (2.23.01), 114th (3rd over 60) Gary (2.46.40), 166th Tom (7th over 60) (3.13.54). Andrew Davies won in 1.52.38, and 179 finished within the cut-off time of 3hrs 30.
