After a cool start to the day, the sun came out for the race. 102 finished the course, and 107 paid their entry fee. With competition from other local races numbers were a bit down this year, but there were still some new faces, one being Worcester AC’s Chris Wilson who pushed Matt James into 2nd place, and created a new course record ( 32.13 ). Dan had a great race to finish 7th (36.44); Dave Rouse was 9th (38.20) and Richard 11th (38.58), bringing them home first men’s team. Nigel was close behind in 12th (39.38), Patrick was 17th (40.40) just ahead of Dave Ameghino (40.59). Simon P showed Croft’s present strength in depth, seventh club runner, in 41.21. Then came Ashley (23rd, 41.43). First lady was Suzanne, adding another trophy to her cupboard, finsihing 28th overall in 43.01. Stuart Austin, another useful new Croft member, was 31st, in 44.08, with Gary G continuing to run well, 34th (44.27) Neil was 46th (46.54) and Brent Lowson (technically completing the ‘D’ team) 67th (51.49). Rachel was our second lady ( 81st overall, 56.36) ahead of Kim ( 95th, 63.49). So a good day out: 1st lady, 1st men’s team, sunny weather and over 100 runners.
