The New Forest Marathon and Half Marathon took place on the 23 rd of September. With its good reputation and fantastic scenery, I knew that this would be a great place for my first half marathon. The race had a fantastic atmosphere and was started by Liz Yelling, however the scenery was slightly obscured by the heavy rainfall and challenging wind which followed us around the course.
The course itself was very interesting, with an undulating terrain winding along the roads through and around the forest and included a few tough hills which had encouraging handmade signs nailed to the trees alongside the road.
I finished the race in a time of 1:54:42, 69th out of 250 in my age category (under 35) and 164th female out of 619.
