Morning After 2014

News

It was raining when Gary, Tom and I set off, with heavier  rain forecast for midday; thus it was that three hardy fools (is foolhardy a little kinder? maybe not) decided to run the 5 mile (sort of) fell race at Church Stretton. There we met up with younger, hardier fools – Pat and Frank. Surprisingly, 134 runners (walkers were counted separately this year) completed the race, with 3 more failing to finish. It was wet and splashy to start with (and that was just the High Street!), but most of the paths caused little problem, unless a downhill slope tested our grip. I remember though noticing that the one wide stream we had to cross was decidedly cold, and the wind was occasionally tricky. By the time we reached the muddy, wet playing fields at the finish our earlier experiences had taught us how best to stay upright. Tim Davies won in 31.58, Pat was 34th (40.46), I was 59th (44.56), Frank 63rd (45.32), Gary 67th (45.54) and Tom 88th in 50.09.
