On Sunday 3 March I discovered the Wyre Forest for the first time, running in a British Heart Foundation 10K. The woods are more extensive than I had expected, and the race route took us through terrain reminiscent of Shobdon Woods, or Presteigne, without quite so many hills!.
It was a friendy route beginning with a fast downhill, riverbank tracks, pleasant woods and a sting in the tail. My home supporters found plenty to do (play area, cafe, plenty of toilets, sculpture trail) and the field wasn’t too big, even with the 5K and walk option included. I was very pleased to break the hour (58:13) and come in as 2nd lady, but more to the point I’ve raised £120 so far for the charity.
