Presteigne Two Rivers

Race Reports

Although the Presteigne Pacers flagship event is an enjoyable but stiff test it seems to struggle to attract the numbers of competitors it deserves. This year, although the route was slightly changed from last year, it still covered approximately 8 and a quarter miles of undulating forestry tracks, stone built roads, farm tracks, a small amount of tarmac road and of course two river crossings and can truly be referred to as a multi terrain event.

There were entries from several local clubs and a sprinkling of entries from further afield but the largest contingent came from Croft Ambrey Runners.

This inevitably showed in the results as Croft Runners took a dominating 1 2 3 overall and many age group victories to boot!

The winner by over a minute was Sam M in 1:00:28 from Dave G (1:01:34) and marathon man Glyn completing the 1 2 3 in a time of 1:04:26.

Mick returning from a lengthy layoff due to injury finished 10th in 1:09:55 and won the MV55 category, Ashley R. finished 12th in 1:11:13 and claimed 1st MV 60, Jo Meadowcroft ran as unattached and finished in 1:12:22 which netted her 14th spot and 3rd female, Frank completed the course in 20th (1:15:20), Gary G. was next up in 21st (1:16:12) and MV65 winner, Sam H. was 22nd in 1:16:19 and was awarded 1st FV40, Tom was 28th in 1:20:38, and finally Sue P. claimed 30th in 1:21:44.

Croft also took the team award.

Many thanks to Presteigne Pacers for organising a thoroughly enjoyable event which will hopefully attract many more entries next year.

A fanastic effort by everyone.
