The Nash and Boraston 10k Dash is starting to look like a firm favourite among Crofties with yet another strong turn out for the club this year. Although slightly down on numbers compared to last year, we still had nineteen club members sacrificing their Sunday to tackle the ups and downs of the challenging course that was ran around the villages of Nash and Boraston near Tenbury.
The weather was dry, cloudy and mild. A bit of a difference to last year’s freezing temperatures, icy conditions and bright sunshine. Nevertheless, eighty nine runners lined up on the start line, near Nash Church, ready to start the race at eleven o’clock.
The race route was the same as previous years. Undulating, with hill after hill on hard country lanes and roads. Rain from the night before, mud on the tracks and leaves that had already fallen, had made the route slippy in places. I, for one, nearly lost my footing a couple of times!
This year, I found this race tough. Tougher than usual. I pushed too hard during the first mile, especially up the first couple of hills. By mile two, I was starting to struggle. If it wasn’t for fellow Crofties, Howard and Rob, I’d probably still be out there right now. And, although I spent most of the race dreading that final hill towards the finish, I actually managed to get a Strava segment PB on it. In the end, I was only two minutes off last years time which, all in all, isn’t that bad. Despite my struggles, other CARC members were flying!
Like last year, Croft bought home a 1-2 finish with Eric Apperley and Aidan Yapp leading the way, with times of 36.30 and 36.52, respectively. Jo Marriott was the first CARC female and the fourth female over all. She even won her age category with a time of 51.42. There were also age category wins for Steve Partridge, Neil Taylor, Sue Wood and Bryan Markham. Full CARC results are:

We seem to really like this race here at Croft Ambrey Running Club and every year our results prove it! So let’s do it all again next year, yes?
