Race Reports

Report by Flora Gunner

11/06/22

Watch distance 20.66 miles & 3750 total ascent.

There are 608 in total individual runners plus the relay team. It’s good to see the two Croft ladies that taking part of the race, I’m not sure the other girl if she’s a member of our club because she is not wearing our club T-shirt. The weather wasn’t very good,on and off the showers I suppose it’s better than hot. Quite muddy in some parts of the route but I did enjoyed it ,very good experience for me. After I run 9 miles I started to dragged my right leg because I had trouble with my right knee, nothing I can do just get used to it. When I heard the crowds cheered I felt relief because it means I managed to reached the finishing line.

And here’s my and Gary’s race results , I came in 6 place out of 13 runners in 55 age category and Gary’s came second out of two runners in 70 + age category. The winner that beats all the horses was a male runner, well done to him .

It’s a great race,well organised

Edit:

For the first time in 15 years, a man finished first to take the prize money. Sadly it wasn’t Gary but Ricky Lightfoot of Ellenborough AC in 2.22.33. Second was a horse, Invictus ridden by Kim Alman in 2.24.36.

Huge congratulations to Ricky.

Flora’s mystery Croft lady was Hannah Fletcher who finished in 3.43.44.

Nikki Ferguson and Lousie Phillips also took part in the relay race – team Louγçös Ladies – I’m not sure if the third team member was from Croft? Finishing time 4.06.29.

Traditionally this race has been well supported by Croft, but due to the clash with the Offa’s Dyke race and it selling out so quickly, sadly there were not many sky blue runners this year. Fingers crossed for more runners next year.
