Another week in the CARC Universe comes to an end, which means another helping of your Weekly CARC Update, and boy, has it been a busy one!
Monday was hot, hot, hot, but this didn’t stop our Juniors from turning up to take part in their weekly training session at Wigmore. With Kelly unable to coach this week, Bronwyn and Clare stepped in to help Eric as he brought them a session focused on efforts and recovery. Tuesday was the turn of the Seniors with Short Intervals on Bircher Common, whereas on Thursday it was all about Meet and Retreats around Croft Wood.

With some of our runners training on Bircher Common on Tuesday evening; others were taking part in the first race of the Bearwood Trail Series. Well done to Gareth for finishing in 1st position, Dave G also finished in the Top 10. Liza was our first female runner to cross the line. Full CARC results:

We were a little low on numbers this weekend at Ludlow Parkrun. Understandable with all the racing and training our runners have been putting in this week! Eric would be first across the line, with Sam J joining him in the top four. Awesome efforts from both after their award winning runs only the evening before. Steph K, who also took part in the Clun Canter, was our first female runner home. Liza, Tom D and Jamie volunteered. Elsewhere, Jo and Crispin took on Hereford Parkrun, while Naomi and son; Henry, ran at Chippenham Playing Fields Parkrun.

Despite running at the Clun Canter only the night before, three of our Crofties took part in the Llanthony Fell Race on Saturday morning. Saffi’s mum has told us that she “finished 1st U13G and is top of the South Wales Fell Series with 2 races to go. She also ran the 100 yard race in the U16 category where she finished 1st.” Flora has also shared a short report with us: “We’re 78 runners in total who took part in the race. Only 77 runners managed to finish, one got injured. Lovely weather we had, cooler better for climbing the hills. It’s only a short distance race,it suits me.” Results were:
Gary Gunner – 50:19 – 2nd in Age Category
Flora Gunner – 47:16 – 1st in Age Category
Saffi Reid – Junior Race – 24:06 – 1st in Age Category

Brilliant running this week, Crofties! Please remember that our upcoming training sessions will be available to view on our Facebook page every Sunday evening. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
