Spring is finally here and with it the light evenings! So lets find out if our Croft runners have made the most of it this week!
Monday night is Junior training night at Wigmore School. The first day of the Easter Holidays was probably the reason for a quieter session than we have seen in recent weeks but those who were there were as enthusiastic as ever and seemed to be really enjoying it.
Training nights this week saw us going back to Bircher Common on Tuesday with Sam leading a session with a group run from the Castle to the Common and back with a few hill intervals to keep the heart rate up. Thursday nights training session was a social Easter run around the Croft Castle Parkland lead by Tim. Great to have such a good turnout of runners and to finally be able to pack away those running torches and see the view – what other running club gets to hold their training session with such an incredible terrain and views?

Wednesday saw the launch of the new Club Shirt, light and airy and perfect for summer running.

It didn’t take people long to figure out that this was an April fools! But the shirt exists, so if anyone wants something similar – just check with Tim for details!
Good Friday saw a few Crofties taking part in the Ludlow 5 and 10k race. Great to see some of our newer members taking part and doing really well.

Saturday is Parkrun day and we had a few tourists this week. Richard and Casper were at Sandringham Parkrun where Casper got his Parkrun PB in a time of 21.10.
Mike and Jayne were in Church Mead in Buckinghamshire on a two lap course, looking like they were having a great time!

Ludlow Parkrun was busy this week, with 180 runners taking part, with 67 first timers. Tori celebrated her 50th parkrun finishing in 30.10. Eric was first man accross the line in 18.02, with Nigel T just missing out on a top 10 place finishing 11th in 22.06. Sam Harper got her PB in 24.09, Liza, Lisa and Hayley not content with 5km all used the parkrun as part of their long runs.

It looks like there was a bit of a race at Hereford Parkrun (don’t tell parkrun central – we all know it’s not a race!) with Sam finishing in second place in 16.03, 3 seconds behind the first finisher and 1 second before the third finisher! Rounding out our Parkrunners for the weekend was Saffi who was back at Severn Bridge. She finished 3rd female overall in a time of 19:53.

Finishing out Saturday was Tim who ran the Church Stretton Spunch! We hope to have more details on this one soon!
Moving onto Sunday – Easter Sunday, and 4 of our Fell Running team were back in action. They took part in the Pen Tir Plus Fell Race near Crickhowell – 6.28 miles and 1496ft of total ascent as per Flora’s watch. Sam, Nigel, Flora and Gary came away with brillitant results, all placing in their age categories. Sam M also took home 3rd place overall. Our results:
Sam Mayglothling – 44:46, 3rd Overall and 1st in Age
Nigel Taylor – 53:58, 9th Overall and 3rd in Age
Flora Gunner – 01:11:09, 2nd in Age
Gary Gunner – 01:27:32, 1st in Age

Elsewhere, it was an early start for Saffi who headed down to Bristol to run the Brabazon 10k. She finished 12th overall and 2nd female out of a total of 183 runners.
That’s everything for this week! We hope you have all had a very Happy Easter and fantastic 1st week of April!
As ever, send us any news you would like adding before 6pm on a Sunday and don’t forget to get those race reports roling in – it has gone a little quiet on that front and we all love reading about everyone running!
