Weekly CARC Update: 24/02/2025-02/02/2025

News

Here at Croft Ambrey Running Club we’re saying goodbye to February and hello to March in the best way possible, by running and gifting you your weekly Sunday evening dose of CARC action. Shall we dig in?

Our Junior runners continue to work hard on Monday evenings over in Wigmore with their one hour training sessions. And this week, it was no different bar a slightly bigger group with some fresh new faces! Join us in welcoming these young, new Crofties to the Sky Blue fold! Welcome!

Our Senior runners worked equally as hard this week with their Tuesday and Thursday training sessions. On Tuesday, Sam put our eager members through a short interval session around Shobdon Orchards before Huw took hold of the reigns on Thursday for a sprint session at Shobdon Church. As with our Juniors, the Senior sessions were also met with some new faces this week – our Prepare for Parkrun Runners. Well done to these runners, and like before, welcome!

This weekend would prove to be a busy one with many of our runners taking part in races near and far!

Starting us off was Parkrun Saturday! 7 Croft runners took part in Ludlow this weekend, with Jamie leading the Sky Blues home in 22nd. Naomi was our first female. Saffi was our sole runner in Hereford. She finished 2nd female.

As you can tell, we were thin on the ground this weekend at Parkrun. However, there is very good reason for this, with 30(ish) of our runners taking part in a Croft favourite – Rhayader Round The Lakes! We had 4 Crofties run in the 10km race this year, with Simon finishing 1st and Ingrid 2nd in their respective age categories. A further 20+ Croft runners decided to challenge themselves that bit further and take part in the 30km. Eric would finish 3rd overall, with Grant, Jo M, Stuart, Liza and Ali B finishing in the top 10 in their age categories. Several of our runners also recorded new course PBs. Well done all! Sunday was just as busy with plenty of cross-country, trail and more long distance races!

After taking part in Parkrun yesterday, Saffi was back at it on Sunday morning, this time running in the Gwent League in Brecon. Results are yet to be published at the time of writing but her mum tells us that she had “a strong run from her today.”

Steph M was the sole Croftie who took part in Runningmonk’s Bishop’s Castle 10k. She finished in 01:06:35 and 2nd in the FV50 age category.

Rounding out the week was Hannah who challenged herself to the 30km Portici in Bologna, Italy. As before, no results seem to be published at the time of writing!

Well done all for another fantastic week. The upcoming training schedule will be live on our Facebook on Monday morning. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
