Hello Sunday! What another busy yet fantastic week here at Croft Ambrey Running Club. As always, there was plenty of races, plenty of training and plenty of fun. Including the start of our Christmas festivities!
First up is our Junior runners, who took part in their penultimate session of the year on Monday evening. This week their focus was on Sprint Relays, where they split into groups of three of similar ability. Of course, they had to then end their session with a couple of games of Bulldogs! Check out some Bulldogs content on our Facebook page now!

The weather was grim on Tuesday, there’s no doubt about it. Unfortunately, that meant, due to the ever so common floods in the Leintwardine area, Huw’s highly anticipated training session at Brampton Bryan was cancelled. A shame, as we don’t enjoy cancelling sessions. But, member safety is our first priority. Hopefully the session he had planned will be rescheduled soon!
Come Thursday and it was all back to normal with a hill session at Croft with Tim J. This session was the first of our festive activities, with members running in Christmassy gear including jumpers, Santa hats and fairy lights! They would also partake in a hill relay drill that involved presents and a well-decorated Christmas Tree. All while I took footage to film for England Athletics! It was a fun evening!

Onto Parkrun Saturday, which was eerily quiet for Croft runners. Possibly because over 30 of them were signed up to compete in the Mortimer Forest Trail Races the following day. However, this didn’t stop a select few from heading out on the cold and foggy Saturday morning. At Ludlow, it was another 1st for Eric, with a time of 19:13. Jamie and Henry would also finish in the Top 10. Naomi was the first Croft female and first female overall. Her time was 27:40. Casper, Angus, Rob M and Jamie all volunteered.

Three Crofties headed over to Queenswood Country Park Parkrun. Mike B was first Sky Blue home in 30th with a time of 27:21. Ireland, taking part in her first parkrun, finished in 28:21, with Gary coming in, in 32:00. Sam J volunteered. Reachel K ran at Newtown Parkrun. She finished in 33:13.
Sunday morning saw Toby Austin taking part in the Telford 10k. He finished in a time of 37.55 and really enjoyed it!

The Mortimer Forest Trial race also took place on Sunday with Croft well represented in the 4 mile as well as the 10 mile race.
As of writing, full results have not been announced yet but the 4mile saw some great Croft Female results with Kath finishing in second place and Liza in third, both winning their age group categories. There was also age category wins for Angus and Guy.

There was also a great turnout in the 10 mile event which added Bringewood to Mortimer Forest and with it some interesting elevation with the famous ‘big dippers’. Nina and Janet won their age categories in this tough field. Lots of photos on the club facebook pages and more to come on the public pages soon!

Janet has had a great week of running, just last weekend she was out running the last race of the Peakraid 3 hour score event. She won the race in her age group and also took home the age cateogory prize for the series – fantastic result!
So another week done but so much to look forward to with Christmas coming. Thursday night is our Christmas social with fun and games after the senior training!
Dont forget if you would like your race and achievements included in the weekly report, please get them to Bronwyn by 6pm at the latest. As you all know she is a very busy lady, and only likely to get busier so reports that come in late cannot be guarenteed to go into the newsletter or update, but we will do our best to include them.
The upcoming training schedule will be live on our Facebook on Monday morning. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
