Again a small field, of only 31 runners, but a fine day for running, and not too much mud in the valley. Tim Lefroy returned from Australia to win by a huge margin, breaking (the absent) Stacey’s record by 51 seconds, in 31 minutes and 3 seconds. Dave Rouse ran strongly to finish 3rd (35.54), after his warm-up cycle ride from Leominster, with Dave A (still not a vet!) on his heels in 4th, just ahead of the evergreen Steve Herington. The first lady, Roz Viner, was 10th overall (in 38.06) nearly a minute and a half ahead of Martin, who completed Croft’s victorious men’s team. Gary (1st MV65) finished just ahead of 15 yr old Eilish Gilbert (Ludlow) who was 2nd lady, in 41.29. Tom was 15th, Larry 20th, Dave R (snr) 21st, Sam (1st FV35) improved on last year’s time by nearly 5 minutes. Bryan brought up the rear, but left the sweeper trailing far behind in his wake. The ladies’ team prize went to the teenage Ludlow team (Eilish and Shannon Gilbert, and Meg Turner).
