A car load of Croft runners travelled up to All Stretton to do battle over the 3 mile fell course over and around the Callow.Whereas some may have chosen the flat 5000m in Hereford, we climbed some 400m on our way round, on a warm, dry(!) summer’s evening. Jordan was experiencing his first fell race, and comfortably beat his more experienced, but older, team-mates. Despite being unsure how hard to push himself, he finished 20th (35.23) and first under 23, but Ruth ran a really great race, continually overtaking me and Gary on the ups and even outrunning Gary on the final descent, crossing the line 28th, 4 seconds in front of Gary (30th, in 37.47) who was first MV65, with me a further 7 seconds adrift in 32nd. Tom finished 47th (41.00), 2nd MV60 on the night. After the presentations (for both the race and the series), we left with a car loaded with bottles and chocolates – overall Ruth was 2nd lady, Tom 2nd MV60, me 1st MV65 and Gary 2nd MV65.
