126 paid entries, and 119 set off on the day, just as light rain began to fall, but fortunately it didn’t amount to much. Jon Pugh set off in the lead, pursued by young Gwynant Jones of Maldwyn, and James Baird (Barrow), but soon it turned into a 2 horse race, between Jon and James, with Jon winning for the 2nd yr running, but just 6 seconds ahead of his rival. Mel Price (11th overall) had an easier victory in the women’s race (beating her own record by a minute), but pursued closely by Glyn (40.38), running his first race for Croft. Mick seemed to enjoy the course (17th, 42.06) narrowly beating Steve Herington, and winning the MV55 category. Ashley ran well (28th, 44.25), as did Gary (34th, 45.36) winning the MV65 category. Tom (48th, 47.54), Frank (50th, 48.03) and Ashley (61st, 49.35) all acquitted themselves well too. Sam was the first Croft woman, nearly 4 minutes faster than last year, and Sue P made a late appearance, but after little competitive running recently ran well to finish in under the hour. There was even a surprise appearance from Dave Moss, who departed quickly afterwards to his parenting duties.
