Red Kite Challenge – Neil Taylor

News

The Red kite Challenge at Devil’s Bridge on Saturday 3rd May was a fantastic course that more Crofters should try next year.

I can now report that the 13 mile half marathon course included 2,259 feet of ascent, making it a true test of stamina, fully befitting a Croft runner.

Simon Norwood was not only 2nd MV4O but 11th overall in 1:42, while I was pleased to finish 4th MV55 in 2:04. Facilities were excellent, there was even a hot shower afterwards.

In the 10k race Sue Davies was 3rd lady (48.10) and I am not sure how Mark fared but he looked to be going well.

Put it in your diary for next year!

It should be added that Jon Barnes won the half marathon in a superb l:26, which by my reckoning would equate to something like 1:13 on a flat course. This year’s field of 165 runners was a record and merits a bigger entry next year.
