Herefordshire X-C, Race 4 (Fforest Fields)

News

Although the weather was probably indeed milder, the fierce wind certainly made it feel cold. Croft had a good turnout for the first race hosted by Builth and District at Fforest Fields, with 17 men and 5 women. Stacey and Simon had a close run finish, with Stacey 4th (39.53), just 18 seconds ahead of Simon (5th). Neil (11th, 41.52) and Stuart 15th (42.50) completed the A team, who were 1st on the day, and second equal overall. The B team packed well: Nigel 16th (43.04), Dan 18th (43.29), Dave A 22nd (44.10) and Mick (1st MV50) in 26th place (45.25). Mark came next (45.53), with Dave R struggling a bit in 36th place, having cycled 30 miles into a headwind to get to the start! Gary was 41st (Carding Mill Canter the previous day), Jimmy 44th, Daniel F in possibly his first race for Croft survived the mud, the hills and the wind to finish 49th, Guy was 55th, Neil 59th, Adam 65th and Tom 67th.

Sue had a very good run, finishing 2nd overall and 1st FV45 (34.07), and Nicky had a stormer (appropriate for the conditions) coming in 5th (36.11) and 1st FV50. Liza completed the A team, in 16th place (38.49) and Rachel, in her first cross country of the season, did well to go round in 42.40 (28th), with Sue Powell just behind in 30th (43.25). The women’s team were 2nd on the day, and remain 2nd overall.
