What a weekend!
Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF) includes junior races, 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Full Marathon distances. I elected to run the Full Marathon on Sunday 26 th.
I travelled up to Edinburgh on Friday 24 th May and enjoyed glorious sunshine (a first for Scotland I believe!) Friday and Saturday, and then perfect running conditions on the Sunday when the sunshine was interspersed with some clouds. The route starts in the centre of Edinburgh and then heads out towards the coast through Musselburgh. I started on London Road in the ‘Brown’ pen (think I had put predicted time of 3:30) and found myself weaving past runners for 2 miles. Mostly flat course with better than expected crowd support, fantastic scenery, and excellent quality medal and technical t-shirt (entry fee £50!). Great atmosphere post-race and the beer tents satisfied ‘spectators’!
Delighted with my new PB of 3:22:35 J. The winning male came in at 2:15:32 and female 2:35:57.
Certainly got a thirst for London again!
