Tom Davies 17/09/48 – 02/09/25

In Memoriam

If there was one person that embodied the values that we aspire to as a club it would be Tom. Kind, encouraging and gracious. He passed away on Tuesday 2nd September while taking part in one of his favourite runs – the Bircher handicap.

There was a particular poignancy in the fact that the handicap series had been dedicated to his great friend and fellow club founder Bryan Markham who so sadly left us last year. Had Tom finished the race he would have won the 2025 series.

Tom’s quiet support and guidance to individual runners and the club as a whole can’t be underestimated. There are people you have the good fortune to have met and spent time with. Tom was certainly one of those people.

The outpouring of love and affection for Tom from across the running community has been truly heartwarming. As we run across the hills that Tom knew so well, for so many of us, his voice of quiet encouragement will be with us every step of the way.

Back in 2022, Huw interviewed Tom as part of the ‘Running and Life’ series on the website. Visit Tom’s interview for an insight into why he was the inspiring runner that he was and why he was instrumental in the formation of Croft Ambrey Running Club.
