Weekly CARC Update: 06/01/2025-12/01/2025

News

Welcome all to your first proper Weekly CARC Update report of 2025! There is so much to look forward to this year, including Croft’s brand new race for 2025; Hillfort Hustle – entries now open here. But what about the present day, I hear you say?

The week was kick started with Senior training at Croft Castle with Clare P leading the helm on Tuesday. The focus for that session was Short Intervals and incorporated efforts and recovery around the car park. Come Thursday and it was a cold and icy sprint session with Sam around the Wigmore School playing field. Thank you to both Clare and Sam for taking this week’s training sessions.

Saturday morning was quiet on the Parkrun front, with several locations cancelled due to yet more icy weather. Unfortunately, this did include our beloved Ludlow. Hereford, however, was still good to go, with Saffi making the most of it. She finished 2nd female, with time a of 22:19. Further afield, Sam J ran at Severn Valley Country Parkrun for the first time, finishing in first position with a time of 17:13.

This week was also meant to be the week where we were hosting the next race of the Hereford and Borders Winter XC League. You can probably gather from the tone of that sentence alone that it had also been put on hold. Thank you to the few Crofties who gave up their Saturday mornings to complete a full course check. However, with the icy conditions still with us for a couple of more days, the difficult decision was made to postpone. More information will be made available in due course!

However, the ice and snow didn’t stop our runners from going out and enjoying themselves, with plenty meeting up for social runs and walks in some of our favourite running locations! Check out some of their pictures below:

Sorry for the lack of content this week. At least we’ve managed to get some lovely pictures from it! Well done all and thank you for your patience. The upcoming training schedule will be live on our Facebook on Monday morning. In the meantime, don’t forget, we’re always on the look out for your race reports for the website, so get posting them on Facebook or send them to either Sam H, Huw or myself (Bronwyn).
