Wednesday evening was the fourth and final race of theSummer XC series with a two lap hilly race at Newton Court Farm. It was advertised as just under 5 miles but my watch showed 4.53 miles (the zigzags through the orchards had been removed so maybe that was the difference).
Hereford Couriers hosted the race and there were lots of marshalls out on the course as well as quite a few Sky Blue supporters, which was lovely to see. It was a hot sunny evening (we are all well acclimatised now) with hard dusty conditions underfoot but that gave us fast racing. The free cider/apple juice for all runners at the end was very welcome and it was great to see so many people staying behind for the prize-giving with lots enjoying a drink/burger in the sun.
Croft had an amazing 40 runners or 1 in 5 of the whole race! We had six scoring teams and the first team finished about 12 mins ahead of the next with a 1,2,3 for the first men home.
So to the results….these include the Race 4 results and overall series result (you had to race all 4 races to qualify for the series). As well as the team prize we had 24 runners complete the series and 14 medal winners!
