Westhope (race 3)

Race Reports

Another warm (well, when you’ve run uphill for half a mile from the start!), dry evening, and another (pair of) orchard(s). Croft were thin on the ground, but there were some fine individual results: Mark (all those miles of cycling paying off?) 2nd and Stacey 3rd overall, and both only seconds behind the winner, Tim Iveson. Possibly the best Croft performance (ever?), and Nigel in 17th place, what a great result! That was the male element of the A team. Gemma was our first lady, in 72nd, moving us up to 4th in the team ranking. Dave G had a stormer too (20th, 31.40), with Greg (26th, 32.25) just a short way behind. In 51st place, having started conservatively, Ashley came steadily through the field. Frank, also running really well, was just behind Gemma, in 75th (37.22). Neil (‘I’m going to take this one easy’) lolloped past me on the final loop, and crossed the line in 90th (38.29), with me 91st (38.37), just ahead of Sam (97th, 39.00) who again just beat Sue (101st, 39.31), who in turn was a stride ahead of Sarah Jamieson, who had finished a whisker ahead of her at Abbeydore. Carol (41.32) is improving at a rate of knots, and was able to sprint (?) past Tom (41.42) to cross the line in 117th. 155 runners completed the course, apparently inadvertently shortened by half a mile or so. We go into the last race in 4th team position, but only 22 points behind Monross, with home territory advantage(?). It can still be done.
