Llangorse Half Ironman

Race Reports
On Sunday 27th I arrived at 7am on a cold misty morning at Llangorse lake to take part in a half ironman triathlon to salvage something from a quiet year of racing !!
Well after a long delay due to mist not wanting to clear the lake, the mist gave way to a beautiful sunny day so we finally set off at10.30, all 40 of us on a 3k lake swim, it was pretty cold and after being punched in the mouth I got into a pace, to then have cramp so each time I kicked was in pain, then someone kindly tried to swim over me, anyway I managed to cling on and finally finish in 51 mins coming out in 7th then straight onto the 45 mile cycle, a nice undulating 2 lap route through the beautiful Brecon beacons, this went well averaging 20mph and finishing in 3rd, and 2hrs 17mins; I then started the 12 mile hilly multi- terrain run – perfect for me; for the whole run I was on my own and no one chasing due to the small field, I finished 3rd overall in the fastest run split of the day 1hr40 and total time 4hrs53mins so will take a lot of confidence from this and hopefully back to GB next year!
