Crocodile 8

Race Reports

Some fine results: Andrew Davies (welcome back to racing!) 2nd JM (1.09.29), Mark L 4th overall (1.00.09), Neil P 1st MV40 (1.06.48), Nigel 1st MV45 (1.08.14) and Jo 3rd FV 45 (1.23.55), with Sam M an excellent 6th, in 1.01.33. Frank must have been pleased with his 94th place (out of 276) in 1.18.35. Sam H, Clare and Carol all had good runs, and Tom ran well to hold off brother Brian. Crispin and Rob, in the early stages of their running careers (?), should be proud of their performances (1.32.34; 1.43.08 respectively).

Crocodile 8

News

In my experience the Crocodile 8 is normally held in sunny or at least reasonably dry conditions and has become quite a popular multi terrain race being organised by Hereford Couriers and Burghill CP School.

Although still popular this year with 217 finishers the weather certainly wasn’t sunny or dry, in fact it was quite the opposite which made the forestry section especially difficult, even though many runners turned in quite exceptional performances. Tim Iveson (Builth and District) won in 52:27 from Wye Valley stalwart John Pullen(52:39) and Matt James(52:59), whilst the ladies were led home clearly by Clara Evans (HCAC) in 59:51 and 16th overall!

Croft fielded a strong contingent being led home by new signing Glyn(14th in 58:32) followed by Dave G.(21st in 01:01:03) then another new boy Rob J. surprising himself with an outstanding 40th in 01:04:10. Martin also ran well to record 01:06:51 in 58th position. I managed a reasonable 79th, Tom 96th, Gary 98th and Bryan D 117th. Although being Croft’s lowest placed finishers, Gary and Bryan were first two in the MV65 category so well done to them for that.

The Hereford Half Marathon has passed and is now a mere memory but I think we should give some recognition to the performances of Croft runners who took part. Most credit should go to Gavin who recorded an incredible 1:28:55 to finish in 36th, just ahead of Mark L.(42nd in 1:30:44) Martin was 108th in 1:37:53,Jabez was 204th, I was 208th and Dave R senior was 305th. I’m sure there were others but the results didn’t show club membership – well done though to all who finished.
