Clun Carnival Canter

Race Reports
A friendly little race held in conjunction with the annual Clun Carnival. Each year a few of the Croft ‘Over the Hill’ group take part but, probably due to the race being on Friday evening, very few other Club members join us!
The race is a 5.3 mile multi terrain starting with a long climb up the tarmac of Church Bank, the climb continues through strength sapping longish grass before a pleasant descent through fields, more tarmac and stone track before another short but steep climb, a level bit across more fields then a fast descent over woodland track, road and field back to Clun.
76 runners took part. Gary Pearson, using the race as part of 3 back to back weekend runs in preparation for his Offa’s Dyke Ultra in September, finished 12th in 44.23. TomD 41st in 53.59 marginally in front of  Frank who was 42nd in 54.15.
The race was won by Paul Jones in 35.07, first lady was Madeline Williams 20th overall in 47.16.
