Richard ran with Russell on this LDWA long ‘run’ – 50 or so runners, with the remainder (about 150) walking the route. The self navigating 27.6 mile course followed the upper valleys of the Clun and Teme, along lonely border country and the tracks of the Kerry Ridgeway and Glyndwr’s Way. There was about 4200 ft of climb (including Beacon Hill), with a climb up to the Offa’s Dyke Path and back to the finish at Newcastle. Richard (who gallantly stayed with Russell who was struggling towards the end ) finished in 4hrs 52, about 10 minutes behind the winner. I believe he then ran another long distance race the next day!
