Ras Cors Tregaron

News

The Ras Cors Tregaron half marathon is an ideal race for Croft Ambrey runners seeking a mid-winter challenge over a fairly testing course. It’s a road race but with more than 600 feet of ascent in the first 8 miles it could almost be classified as ‘hilly’, providing homely comfort for those who like a little variety. The last 5 miles are fast and flat, following the old railway line over Tregaron bog with only a few ‘twitchers’ for company. This year’s race was easily won by John Pugh of Builth and District in a creditable time of around 1:16 while I finished 43rd of 94 runners in a time of 1:41:19. Bowls of ‘cawl’ (a local lamb stew) were provided to finishers, while some chose to refresh themselves at the excellent Talbot Hotel in the town square. I thoroughly recommend this race to Crofters and hope to encourage a few more entrants from the club next year (provided you don’t mind a 2 hour drive).
