Race The Train (14 miles)-Tywyn

News

Once again a high turnout for this well known race, which this year was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Only two Croft runners, Dave Rouse and Dave Moss turned out for this race, possibly due to the poor weather forecast for the weekend. This was a great pity as the terrain, especially on the return leg, is much like that of Bircher Common and Croft.
Although heavy rain during the night had made the underfoot conditions difficult in places, the rain held off for most of the day, except for a short shower of rain about 50 minutes into the race.
The winner of the race finished in a time of 1hr 18mins 15sec meaning that he broke the course record by just over 1 min and so won himself £100.
First woman across the line in 109th place was British athlete Tara Krzywicki in a time of 1hr 41min 32sec.
201 of the 822 competitors beat the train, which took 1hr 47mins 59secs to complete the course

Dave Moss 32nd 1hr 35mins 17secs
Dave Rouse 127th 1hr 42mins 53secs
Kevin Barnes also competed for couriers finishing 370th in 2hrs 5secs
