Mynydd Troed fell race

News

The first race of the South Wales Summer Fell Series for Gary and Tom following the cancellation of the first race, Pen Cerrig Calch, and substitution by  the Sugar Loaf which was not advertised!

The course, climbing the hills to the east of Llangorse Lake, was shortened from 7 miles to 5 due to torrential rain and gale force winds and there was considerable debate if it should be held at all due to the likelihood of runners being blown off the hillside. Eventually 81 runners started with 76 completing the course, a number needing medical attention at the end. Unfortunately Gary suffered  mild hypothermia and retired. Tom completed the course in 69th place in a time of 75mins 4 secs, the conditions being a great leveller as this was just 16 seconds behind Steve Herington! The race was won by Tim Davies  of Mercia in 46:33.
