Only 40 runners turned out for this charity fell race (for MacMillan nurses) starting in Carding Mill Valley on a beautiful sunny morning. The going was good, with loose dry soil and stones on paths the only problem. Despite the lack of entrants I found myself trapped at the back of a foursome, going up a long narrow path at halfway, but we ‘thinned out’ near the top, with still a couple of miles to go over undulating hilltops before the final rush down to the finish. Paul Jones won, in 38.17, I was 10th (47.52) and Dave Thomlinson (in a Mercia vest) finished 24th (54.14).
