LEINTHALL STARKES 5

News

The  halfway  stage  of  the 2011 series was reached with the final run on the roads before we head for Croft Woods next month. It  attracted  the  lowest  turnout  of  the  series  so  far, but  there  were  some  excellent  performances  recorded.

It  was  a  delight  to  see  Tom  storming  across  the  finish  line  with  a  clear  lead  looking  to  be  back  to  his  best.  Bryan  continued  to  astound  by  slicing  a  huge  chunk  off  his  own  over  70s  record  in  2nd  place.  Jo  produced  a  determined  sprint  finish  to  pip  Guy  for  3rd, and  improved  her  previous  best  by  46  secs  and  as  a  result  she  leapt  to  13th  place  in  the  rankings.

Alison  continued  her  run  of  good  form  by  improving  her  own  FV50  record  and  Sam  illustrated  her  consistency.

Probably  the  2  outstanding  performances  of  the  evening  came  from  Gemma  and  Stacey.  Gemma’s  impressive  P.B.  moved  her  up  to  4th  place  in  the  overall  rankings  over  a  course  that  has  been  competed  on  for  24  years.  This  moved  Croft  Ambrey  legend  Janet  Tyler  down  a  place.  Stacey  again  proved  that  he  is  on  top  form  by  breaking  28  mins.  for  the  second  time  this  season.  He  also  features  at  no.  4  on  the  all  time  list  as  the  2  longest  standing  records  on  the  books  were  demoted  a  place.

Kevin  made  a  promising  debut  as  a  guest.

The  next  will  be  upon  us  very  soon, scheduled  for  Tues 12th  July  in  Croft  Woods.  Please  arrive  a  little  earlier  to  allow  for  the  trek  to  the  start  line.
