Le Moutier d’Ahun 10k

News

It was cold at 9am registration, but a free (2 tone) T shirt helped. I was all ready to show my new UKA licence card, for the first time, but no-one was interested. The start was on the medieval bridge beneath the old abbey (le Moutier), and we set off at a steady pace along lanes and then muddy tracks, first following the railway line and than back over the river, a few climbs then down to the finish at the bridge. There was a strange silence during the run – no encouragement from marshals or the few spectators, and a little muted applause at the finish. Maybe it was the cold, maybe it was the relatively early hour. I’d reckoned on 3m30 km splits (for easy calculation!) and in fact averaged 3m35 to finish in 35.50, 100m behind the 1st over 60 ( a mere youngster of 60 and a few days). Guy
